Endorsements for Robbins, Monferdini in District 2

Thomas Walker Thomas Walker is an attorney and respected member of the District 2 region in the new city of Tucker.  Save  Tucker! founding members Cheryl and Paul Miller had an opportunity to speak with Mr. Walker while he was out campaigning door to door in the Brockett community. When he barely missed being in the runoff himself, he could have easily felt bitter about the situation, like so many others have done in other elections, and demanded a recount or alleged some kind of misconduct against the elections volunteers and staff. Instead, he continued to attend meetings, speak on issues and lend his support to the remaining candidates.  He kept everyone informed about the new attorney hired by city of Tucker and will continue to be an active volunteer and friend to everyone who lives here.  Save Tucker!  agrees with his choices for the upcoming runoff election. Here are his endorsements for two candidates who will be in the runoff to be held THIS ...

Meet Your New City Attorney

Share Tweet Google Plus Reddit Email Comments 3 Brian Anderson, new Interim City Attorney Tucker, meet your new city attorney, Brian Anderson.  It is unclear how he was selected and hired since the city has not even elected all of its council members, yet, and the Governor did not appoint a transition team like he did for the other new cities in Georgia.  Tucker's first meeting was held March 15 and the announcement was made about the new hire.  Where will Tucker find the money to pay for the salary of our first official staff member?   That' a question we do not have the answer to. We were informed that a call for resumes was sent out by Tucker Civic Association, a private organization of volunteers that has been involved in Tucker's community for decades. When we first approached Tucker Civic leaders for a response on the city issue, they were very firm...

One of Many Unanswered Emails

During the fight to save Tucker and learn about whether a city was the right way to go about protecting our borders from hostile Lavista Hills / Lakeside City advocates, we emailed and spoke to many state and county officials.  There were time when they were forthcoming and seemingly understanding.  Other times we were completely ignored.  We were so busy that we did not always have time to post our emails for our followers to read, or we were waiting to post them once we received a response.  But, some of our questions didn't receive responses and they remain as doubts in the minds of many.  To let you know about the work we tried to accomplish, as we run across emails that we think you would like to know about, we will post them on the blog.  We have XXX'd out the names of private individuals to protect the privacy of ordinary citizens.  Politicians, however, are public figures and so we have left their names and emails in tact.   Here...

Tucker Township? A Vision or a Pipe Dream?

This was the vision for a "Tucker Township" as visioned by a beta version of a new school review website.  The website is:  https://k12.niche.com/t/tucker-township-dekalb-ga/ Who drew this map?  We are not really sure.  We stumbled upon it recently while looking for Tucker election results. We do, however, think this map, called "Tucker Township" actually shows a good compromise between Tucker and Lavista Hills that could have worked well for everyone.   It offers a great way to share the Northlake area commercial tax revenue.  So, why didn't anyone suggest something like this  prior to putting forth competing bills in the 2013 and 2014 legislative sessions?  And, why is Tucker's city still being allowed to move forward when it has been called "unconstitutional" by even the legislators who supported it? Limited services government in the form of a new city is something that the Georgia constitution does not allow, apparently. ...

Congressman Calls Residents with Changed Zip Code Descriptions "Victims" - New Cities Blamed

Since the very beginning of our efforts to "Save Tucker!," members of this group have spoken to elected officials, city advocates, at public meetings and in various forms of social media about the need to protect our Tucker zip code before anything else.  For at least the past 40 or more years, Tucker, at the very least, has been identified by its own unique zip code, 30084.  The zip code 30085 is also called "Tucker" but contains only the P.O. Boxes at our Tucker Post Office.  The 30084 zip code has identified and unified the community because whenever anyone signed a lease or mortgage for property, they knew they were buying something that's located in Tucker.   This is the shape of the Tucker zip code and its original CDP (which were one and the same):   In fact, it was the zip code that was the first known "Census Designated Place" boundary set for Tucker in 2000.  Then, in 2010, that boundary changed a little based on shifts in where the...
