Tucker Behaving Badly

Left, Michelle Penkava (Dist. 3), Anne Lerner (Dist. 3), Frank Auman (mayor), Bill Rosenfeld (Dist. 1), Honey VandeKreke (Dist. 1).  Absent:  anyone from Dist. 2 because the election was still taking place.  There was  no legal authority for these individuals to begin conducting business on behalf of Tucker as the city election was still in process.  And, to make matters worse, they claimed that the charter required them to take office.  That was a bold faced lie to their constituents and they even made THAT through a third party via social media and other unofficial means, rather than answer for themselves. Newly elected Tucker Mayor Frank Auman (center) and four council-members were sworn in to their positions on March 8 at Tucker High School.  The council members represented exactly 2 of the 3 districts.  Despite the fact that they were not bound by any particular charter requirement to do so, they decided to move forward without the ...

Save Tucker! from the Mega-City Plan of Lavista Hills

Tucker 2015's Frank Auman Exposed as a Jive Talkin' Lobbyist!

Vote No on Nov. 3 to Frank Auman, a jive talking lobbyist who doesn't even live in the current boundaries of Tucker. His front group's new map takes on expansive territory with a shaky financial plan that could put the entire region at risk of a state takeover and permanent division. With a $4 million budget for administration alone, the boutique city would add a new layer of bureaucracy that will only add to the corruption problems already impacting DeKalb County and the entire metro Atlanta region. Frank Auman was hired based on a plan that originated in the office of former County Commissioner Elaine Boyer, now in federal prison for defrauding her constituents. Don't be fooled by her plan, Tucker. Vote NO on NO-NO-NOVEMBER 3!

Have You Heard the One About the Long Lines for Permits?

You have likely heard people in the pro-city group Tucker 2015 talking about how long it takes to get a permit in DeKalb County,  right? Or, maybe you heard Lavista Hills leaders talking about the permitting issue and the Tucker city group basically retelling the same story but with a lesser ability to sound convincing that this was truly an issue for our mass concern. Naughty or nice?   Are the Tucker leaders actually accepting a gift or trying to take something out of Santa's hand?  Either way, the results were only something to believe in if you also believe in fairies, elves and Elaine Boyer's advice. If you did try to press them for details, you would have thought that this entire idea about them taking over this services  must be a joke because if you ask them for details, they suddenly clam up.   Blank looks on their faces, they would look at each other... stumped for how to respond. Decide  for yourself.  Here's what we asked at a...

WOW! Before Evansdale Dumps Doraville for Good, They Might Want to Read THIS!

Ever since we heard Tucker 2015 leader Frank Auman say that Tucker was willing to give up its rights to Northlake if the Lakeside City folks would concede everything outside the perimeter, we were curious about what he might know that the rest of us didn't. We know that Tucker's claim to the Evansdale area, which really started with its inclusion in the 2010 Census designation for Tucker, is what fueled their outcry to join Lakeside City (now being called "Lavista Hills).  But, we also heard some rumblings that their true reasons for wanting the association with Lakeside was purely related to their school cluster  pattern than anything else. Now, looking at the  map that Lavista Hills ended up with, the school system could be more likely than ever to redistrict some of the Druid Hills cluster schools to Lakeside.  That would mean pushing Evansdale into the Tucker cluster, regardless of what city they eventually end up in.   When you consider the fact t...

Welcome to Smoke Rise, Soon to be Tucker, GA

This could be the change that residents will see if Tucker 2015 is successful in getting its referendum nto a ballot and voters approve it.  The driving force behind the city of Tucker has been the leadership within the community known as "Smoke Rise, GA."  Smoke Rise residents currently have addresses that say "Stone Mountain, GA" and many of them worked hard in order to create a separate identity for themselves, petitioning the U.S. Post Office to change their official name to "Smoke Rise."  While the Post Office did not agree to change the official name, they did agree to allow "Smoke Rise" as a recognized alternative to "Stone Mountain" that could be used interchangeably as long as it accompanied their 30087 zip code. It is important to note that these residents did not ask the Post Office to recognize their use of "Tucker" as an acceptable alternative.  They asked to be called "Smoke Rise." It appears t...
