Save Tucker!

This letter was posted on the Decaturish site, under the title " Just Say No to New Cities ."  It is true for both the city of Lavista Hills as well as the city of Tucker.  Dear Decaturish, It is my understanding that the LaVista Hills movement is upset with the AJC article that the proposed revenue will be less than anticipated . I am more concerned about other misrepresentations to the community by the pro-city movement. The pro-LaVista Hi lls group in public meetings contends that court functions will remain in DeKalb County despite the fact that they are going to duplicate services. Regardless of what you call it, leaders  in the city effort have been less than  transparent about the cost of  services and where they plan  to get the funds.   HQ For DeKalb's Police, Fire Rescue, Emergency Management, Public Safety, 911 and more!  This is Tucker! But a report coming from this location does NOT mean the crime was committed in T ucker. The news media falsely reported that a crime was committed in Tucker, simply because they were getting information from the police HQ, which is located in Tucker. This is not the first time this has happened. Save Tucker! posted the correct locations based on the addresses given by police from the beginning.  (see above.)  We asked for a retraction.  We have also asked local media to  please be more careful in their rush to get a story on the air.  Many Tucker residents were on edge as they were being told the carjacking happened in their community. Published on Jul 9, 2015 The Scott Boulevard Baptist Church steeple and cupola put up a good fight in the final demolition stages of the mid-1950's era church north of Decatur Georgia 7/8/15. The demolition crew broke three cables, had to reposition the anchor points twice and in the end needed two backhoes linked together to pull down the stout steel reinforced structure. Just received word that the Rules Committee will be next in line to hear about the Tucker and Lavista Hills bills today.  Keep in touch with any updates by posting on our Facebook site ! If the bills  pass Rules, they go in front of the full House of Representatives for a vote.  You can start right now  trying to reach all of them.  The Dekalb delegation doesn't have any more or less power than anyone else on that floor at the time of the vote.  Every Representative will have a chance to vote.  So, it is important they understand this isn't an ordinary bill about ordinary things. Wonder if these homes, found on Zillow.com, were factored into "The Lakeside Plan." Would you pay that much for a home that is apparently on the easement of someone else's front yard?
