Logic and Reason Do Not "Reside" in DeKalb County

Here are minutes from the DeKalb County Elections Board Meeting held Feb. 11, 2016.  Save Tucker! comments are numbered below the minutes, corresponding to the highlighted areas by color.  Challenge of Tucker City Council Candidate Katherine Atteberry – The Board was provided with a copy of an e-mail from Ms. Cheryl Miller stating that she wished to challenge the candidacy of Tucker District 2 City Council candidate Katherine Atteberry, and alleged that Ms. Atteberry did not live at her registered address.  Upon checking Code Section 21-2-6, it was determined that another elector can only challenge a candidate within the two weeks immediately following the qualifying period and that time has expired.  However, the Board has the authority to challenge a candidate up and until an election.   Ms. Daniels and Mary Frances went to the candidate’s address and saw no indication that the home was abandoned or vacant, as alleged .  Further, Ms. Daniels check...

Peach Pundit Website, Linked to Tucker 2015, Refuses to Return Voter Data Disk

According to ABC News, an audit will be conducted to review the voter files and data in the Georgia Secretary of State's office. Save Tucker! notes that the website in questions is also connected with the consulting firm said to have worked with the Tucker 2015 group in securing their recent victory in the cityhood referendum.  Read the admission at the end of the article, "Lavista Hills: Doomed from the Start" by Mike Hassinger:  here .  The company Apache Consulting worked on the Tucker campaign, but the owner says he lives and works in the Lavista Hills proposed city limits. The Peach Pundit reported that it "threw away" the disk that had the voter data on it, which they had received sometime in October, prior to the city vote for both Tucker and Lavista Hills.    Georgia to Hire Auditing Firm After Voters' Data Released ATLANTA — Nov 20, 2015, 8:41 PM ET ( By Kathleen Foody, Associated Press ) Georgia's secretary of state said Friday that...

What the State Constitution Says About Cities - Read Before You Vote!

The state House of Representatives Committee on Cities and Annexations was formed at the end of the last legislative session.  They are actually working on that "better process" that DeKalb County residents have been asking for.  The only problem - it won't come in time to help you if your property is in Central DeKalb because you get to vote on the last two cities that were okayed by the legislature to move forward without a clear process that protects taxpayers from the problems that we have already encountered. That committee also brought up something new that was not discussed during the legislative hearings.  The concept of a 'city lite' (a limited city government that can only add services if approved by voters in a referendum) is something that Tucker has indicated that it will be, may actually be unconstitutional in the state of Georgia.   Therefore, Tucker's charter may actually be unconstitutional in the state of Georgia....

Lakeside and Stonecrest are More Than "Just Friends."

Two photos for two new proposed cities, but both featuring at least one supporter who believes he belongs in BOTH groups.   What OTHER similarities are there between these two "rivals" that their supporters may not know about?   How exactly did all of these proposals supposedly come "from the people" but ended up wanting the exact same things, with the exact same slogans and now, we learn, the exact same people.   In fact, Lakeside City was started by a group of people who stated that one of their main motivators was that they did not want to be included in a proposed City of DeKalb.  Later, Stonecrest was started, the story goes, because of the efforts to start a city of Lakeside in North DeKalb.   Before all of this, there was "Brookhaven YES."  Now, we have "Lakeside YES" and "Stonecrest City YES."   How stupid do they think we all are that we cannot see they are all part of the same plan? Either write ...

Lakeside's Confusion About the Need for More Police

When Lakeside City first announced its plans for a city, their board members recited tales of cars left unlocked in driveways that had the GPS stolen or a laptop, left in plain view, taken from inside the car. While not to dismiss the serious nature of any crime, the complaints sounded, at the time, to be minor when compared to crimes we know take place in other parts of our county.  But, they still used the same tired excuse for a new city that Dunwoody and Sandy Springs had used years before: More Police! Map shows how central precinct picked up most police from the closing of the north precinct and how a large portion of those protected by the police now will be harmed if another precinct is forced to close and reorganize.  And before you criticize the Tucker decision to leave police in the hands of the county, take a look at how things are currently set up.  Keep in mind, we have the second largest police force in the state, and TWO of the FOUR preci...

The Briarcliff Hearing: Public Comments, TellTale Signs That a City in Central DeKalb Will Fail at the Ballot Box

The common theme among the public comments from the city of Briarcliff hearings: "Please, give us all the right to vote. The right to vote NO."   Highlights:   Emory says "No" to "Lakeside" and "Let us vote," to Briarcliff.    Young Republican smiles at thought of what this does to Jason Carter's "epicenter of support."  Committee Chairman cuts him short. Long time resident and daughter of a builder from Leafmore states Tucker has always had property inside the perimeter and residents are all friendly with one another. Druid Hills Past President speaks to desire for preservation of history and land.  States they funded the Briarcliff study and large number of residents want the right to vote.  Another resident left out of Lakeside wants the right to vote. Neighborhood in Lavista Park sends association President to ask for right to vote. Another resident against Lakeside hopes Briarcliff and Tucker can work together....
