Dunwoody Warns Tucker: Cities Not Local; Out of Control

Twenty Five Til Three The vote for yet another round of cities in DeKalb comes up on Three November this year. And twenty five? Well that is the number of holes lining Dunwoody Parkway awaiting the much ballyhooed renewable resource otherwise known as "trees." What does that have to do with the Tucker and Cliffside votes? Well, it is just another symbol of "be careful what you wish for." There is much irony and no small amount of hypocrisy in these fledgling cities. See, we got ourselves an incredibly expensive teardown and rebuild when what we asked for was a simple re-furb. The original parkway plan called for some serious repaving and restriping but there are those in this here locally controlled city what would have none of that. It was Complete Streets and nothing else. Bear in mind these are Torpy's One Percenters who are demanding that any pavement touched be retouched with bike lanes even they won't use. As mentioned earlier, the pr...

This guy? AGAIN??

Do you remember when Save Tucker! called your attention to a random guy  who appeared to be a "super fan" of cities in DeKalb County, GA?   He was pictured as one of the "citizens" in the "grass roots" movements for BOTH Lakeside City AND Stonecrest.    Here is our original post:   titled, "Lakeside and Stonecrest are More than Just Friends."      BUT, now we have learned something NEW.      "THIS GUY" from the Lakeside City and Stonecrest groups is ALSO the same as   "THIS GUY" from Brookhaven!   Yes, that's right... take a look for yourself....   "THIS GUY" is pictured with Mary Kay Woodworth and Co. at a big press announcement for Lakeside City. "THIS GUY" then appeared in a City of Stonecrest photo op as they exercised their rights of free speech and assembly.   AND NOW, WE HAVE LOCATED "THIS GUY" AGAIN, INVOLVED IN A THIRD CITY MOVEM...

Progress... at What Cost?

Published on Jul 9, 2015 The Scott Boulevard Baptist Church steeple and cupola put up a good fight in the final demolition stages of the mid-1950's era church north of Decatur Georgia 7/8/15. The demolition crew broke three cables, had to reposition the anchor points twice and in the end needed two backhoes linked together to pull down the stout steel reinforced structure. A Decaturish reader who provided the video wrote, "She dropped her hat, then knelt and fell. RIP Scott Boulevard Baptist Church.”   And this (see video) was done for a good reason, right?  Some call it "progress."  But, who said progress had to hurt?  This was the result of greedy developers who want yet another multi-use development.  And, it is thanks to leaders in our government who were willing to cave to their demands. Here are some suggested new slogans for DeKalb County's revamped government ... More people, fewer churches, less guilt.  There is no need for chur...

One Man's Perspective Stated in Crossroads - Why Aren't There More?

We've wondered why more people are not speaking up like Joe Bembry (below) about the new city proposals.  Do people outside the proposed city limits of Tucker or Lavista Hills understand the impact of what could happen if voters approve these new government structures?  If they do not, and they are worried about it, why aren't they trying to reach out to the voters here and ask that they consider remaining unincorporated so we can solve our problems together? When Tucker, Briarcliff and Lakeside proposals failed to pass the committee in 2014, we thought that was the end of this talk.  The city proposals should have died .. just like any other bill is supposed to fail when it cannot pass the committee it is in.  But somehow it came back.  Through no extra advocacy or effort that anyone is aware of, the state elected officials just decided suddenly, on their own, to take up the cause once again.  Did they not hear the same things we did?  Were t...

LaVista Hills (The View) Finds an Audience for Season One!

"We just got together at a dining room table and decided we needed to start a city!"   That's all it took.  Plus, a few years, dozens of maps, multiple name changes, tens of thousands of dollars and land grabbing from our neighbors to satisfy our own political agendas, and wa la!  Look at us now! It's official.   We're LaVista (The View).  Hills, That is.  And, if you don't like us; we don't care! For details, see today's AJC:   HERE or Decaturish story:   HERE
