Congressman Calls Residents with Changed Zip Code Descriptions "Victims" - New Cities Blamed

Since the very beginning of our efforts to "Save Tucker!," members of this group have spoken to elected officials, city advocates, at public meetings and in various forms of social media about the need to protect our Tucker zip code before anything else.  For at least the past 40 or more years, Tucker, at the very least, has been identified by its own unique zip code, 30084.  The zip code 30085 is also called "Tucker" but contains only the P.O. Boxes at our Tucker Post Office.  The 30084 zip code has identified and unified the community because whenever anyone signed a lease or mortgage for property, they knew they were buying something that's located in Tucker.   This is the shape of the Tucker zip code and its original CDP (which were one and the same):   In fact, it was the zip code that was the first known "Census Designated Place" boundary set for Tucker in 2000.  Then, in 2010, that boundary changed a little based on shifts in where the...

Franchise Fees TWICE the Cost You Pay Right Now as an Unincorporated Area

by Ed Williams June 25 at 1:35am   Cities Franchise Fees which are paid by the consumer are twice that of non-incorporated area.  Franchise fees are fees passed on by utilities, and cable companies to governments for rights of way for utility lines, and pipes to pass through public lands. Elaine Boyer's Crimes Against Us Were Not Limited to Just One Scheme

Mary Kay Woodworth (at podium) addresses the Tucker community to present the plan for Lakeside City in 2013.  How did she get such a big audience for such a terrible idea to divide our community?  You can thank Elaine  Boyer when she gets out of federal prison.  Boyer hosted a meeting that had a huge turnout, bigger than any other meeting on cityhood in this area, where Tucker residents thought they were going to learn about what they could do to STOP Lakeside.  Instead, they had to practically BOO Ms. Woodworth off the stage to get her to leave the premises. This is a case of politicians, lobbyists and corporations trying to work together to pull the wool over the eyes of the average citizen while building their own little empire with OUR TAX DOLLARS!   Will the FBI investigate the other schemes Boyer was involved in during the time she was desperately seeking money, taking from taxpayers, scheming with her husband and conspiring with this "consultant...

"It's Morally Wrong," Says Smoke Rise Resident

"The city of Tucker is morally wrong," according to Smoke Rise resident Robert Stamper.

Welcome to Smoke Rise, Soon to be Tucker, GA

This could be the change that residents will see if Tucker 2015 is successful in getting its referendum nto a ballot and voters approve it.  The driving force behind the city of Tucker has been the leadership within the community known as "Smoke Rise, GA."  Smoke Rise residents currently have addresses that say "Stone Mountain, GA" and many of them worked hard in order to create a separate identity for themselves, petitioning the U.S. Post Office to change their official name to "Smoke Rise."  While the Post Office did not agree to change the official name, they did agree to allow "Smoke Rise" as a recognized alternative to "Stone Mountain" that could be used interchangeably as long as it accompanied their 30087 zip code. It is important to note that these residents did not ask the Post Office to recognize their use of "Tucker" as an acceptable alternative.  They asked to be called "Smoke Rise." It appears t...
